Agents of Change

Frequently Asked Questions

We've already been working on our own startup for a while. Is the Agents of Change program appropriate for us?

Depends. The program is designed for first time entrepreneurs, a lot of the stuff covered is basic if you've done it before. That being said, it's mentoring, a cohort of like-minded peers, and exposure to the Melbourne start-up scene. Cost you nothing to enter and should be an experience! We are happy to chat with you/your co-founders beforehand to see if it's worthwhile.

We're already doing x,y,z (jobs, summer semester, travel). Can we still apply?

There are no restrictions in applying for the Agents of Change program, other than attendance at the fortnightly events and weekly office hours (~ 30 min per week).

We're doing a not-for-profit startup. Can we still apply?

Certainly. There are no restrictions in applying for the Agents of Change program, other than attendance at the fortnightly events and weekly office hours (~ 30 min per week).

What do you get out of this?

Agents of Change is an initiative of Student Entrepreneurs, a not-for-profit organisation committed to supporting the growth of entrepreneurship. Other than your time and attitude, we don't expect anything in return. Just remember us when you take over the world!

What is the ideal group size for applying?

As in most startups, the ideal number of team members is somewhere between 1 and 4. We will not be looking at applications of more than 4 people.

Can I apply in more then one team?

Certainly, just make sure each submission is under a different persons name.

Do we have to be Australian Citizens?

No, however you will be expected to be in the country for the duration of the program.

Why didn't you accept our application?

Places for the Agents of Change program are competitive. There are always a number of applicants who for no tangible reasons did not get selected. Don't take it personally. Picking people who will make good entrepreneurs is hard work. Venture Capitalists are doing well if they can pick 3 successes out of every 10 companies they fund.

Can you help us set something like the Agents of Change program in our town?

We'd love to take the program is national and even international. When we figure out how you'll be the first to know. In the meantime, always happy to help out others get started, just contact us via the appropriate channels.
